hmm???When you rate a book ~ do you rate against its fellow books in that genre? I always wonder what others do. Say I rate an erotic book … if I give it a 5 star rating - that rating would be high in that genre, but probably would not match up to a 5 of one of my Historical genre (altogether different writing, because you have to admit some erotics can get a little overboard in content ;-) that make it not outstanding literature … It’s erotic - I read it for fun not major depth. So since some erotics are better written then others I score them against other books like it.
I seem to always wonder when people see my rating and go “Really”; I’m reading The Help (just an example), now that’s a 5 star.
