I love a historical with lots of detail. But this read more like a ecological history lesson with a plot mixed in. I don't need the the dictionary type description of every stone, bush and tributary that runs into a river. The author with out a doubt did her research and I applaud her. I just wish she didn't have to stuff it all in. This is a long read with an interesting story that keeps you reading to see how it turns out. So I guess I liked it - but definitely has a lot of slow parts.
